Geary County Clerk Records Office
The primary court-record custodian is the Clerk of the District Court at Geary County District Court. The local 8th Judicial District page says the clerk's office keeps records on all cases filed with the District Court and provides service to judges, the legal community, and the public. Katrina Adams is listed locally as Clerk of the District Court.
The clerk office handles District Court case records for adoption, care and treatment, child support, civil cases, criminal cases, domestic relations, fish and game citations, juvenile matters, limited civil, marriage licenses, payments for court costs, fines, and fees, probate, small claims, and traffic tickets. Some of those files are public. Others are restricted by statute, court rule, or order.

What Geary County Clerk Records Cover
District Court records are not the same as all county records. The Clerk of the District Court keeps the case file once a state trial court case is filed in Geary County. That can include pleadings, docket entries, orders, judgments, dispositions, payment records, and document copies, subject to public-access limits.
- Civil, limited civil, small claims, garnishment, lien, and judgment records filed in District Court.
- Criminal, traffic, fish and game, and payment records for Geary County District Court cases.
- Domestic relations and child support filings, including divorce case files when public.
- Probate, estate, guardianship, conservatorship, and small-estate filings.
- Juvenile, adoption, care-and-treatment, and sealed matters where public access is restricted.
Online access is through Kansas Judicial Branch CaseSearch, not a Geary-only case portal. In-person access can include courthouse terminals and clerk copy requests. For records not otherwise available, Kansas Judicial Branch request-court-records procedures may apply.
Geary County Clerk Office Split
Geary County has more than one office with "clerk" or record functions. The court clerk keeps District Court case records. The County Clerk is a county administrative and elections office. The Register of Deeds handles real estate recording functions and states there is no public online access and no e-filing for that office in the research reviewed.
| Office | Primary role | Not the right channel for |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk of the District Court | District Court case files, docket records, court payments, probate, divorce, criminal, civil, and traffic case records. | County commission minutes, voter records, tax-roll duties, and land recording. |
| County Clerk / Elections | County commission minutes, elections, voter registration, tax-roll update work, county licenses, and county KORA requests. | District Court pleadings, court orders, and case copies. |
| Register of Deeds | Real estate recording and land-record functions. | Court case files and certified District Court documents. |
The Geary County Clerk and elections office is shown in the manifest image from the official County Clerk page.
That county office is useful for county administrative records, but District Court case records remain with the court clerk.
Request Geary County Certified Copies
A certified court copy confirms that the copy came from the court record. Certified copies can be needed for appeals, name changes, agencies, benefits, property issues, or other formal uses. Start with the case number if possible, then identify the exact document, party names, and whether a plain or certified copy is needed.
- Search Kansas CaseSearch or an existing notice for the case number, party names, and filing county.
- Confirm that Geary County District Court is the court of record and that the document is not sealed or restricted.
- Contact the Clerk of the District Court by phone, in person, mail, or fax with the case and document details.
- Ask for the current copy and certification cost before sending payment or appearing at the counter.
- Use the county KORA form only when the record is a county agency record rather than a District Court case document.
Note: Juvenile, adoption, care-and-treatment, sealed, and expunged records may require a court order or may not be released to the public.
Geary County Request Form Fields
The Geary County online KORA form and PDF form are county agency record channels. They are useful when the record is held by a county department rather than the District Court case file. The research capture shows common fields, and the PDF asks requesters to describe records clearly because specificity helps the county respond more quickly and accurately.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Name or requester identity | Likely required | Used to identify the requester in the CivicPlus form. |
| Contact information | Likely required | Email or phone helps the county respond. |
| Description of records requested | Required | Be specific about the record, date, department, and subject. |
| Site or location | Optional or conditional | The PDF references site-based requests and geospatial coordinates. |
| Inspect or copy | Unspecified | Requesters may need to state whether they want inspection or copies. |
The online county KORA request channel is shown in this screenshot from the Geary County Open Records Request form.
Use that county form for county agency records, not as the first route for a District Court case copy.
Geary County Clerk Record Fees
The research file captured county KORA copy fees and several court-related filing fees. It did not locate a Geary District Court certified-copy fee table, so copy certification costs should be confirmed with the Clerk of the District Court before ordering. County agency copies use the county KORA PDF fee language.

County Clerk and Register Records
The Geary County Clerk staff directory lists the county clerk office at 200 E 8th Street, Junction City, KS 66441, phone 785-238-3912, fax 785-238-5419, and hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. That office serves as official secretary for the Board of County Commissioners, records commission minutes, handles election duties, maintains voter registration rolls, updates real estate records from deeds and court documents for tax-roll work, issues certain licenses, and handles county administrative records.
The staff directory page for the county clerk is shown in this image from the official county staff page.
That office can help with county administrative duties, but a District Court order or docket copy should still go to the court clerk.
The Register of Deeds is a different record office. The official Register of Deeds page was also assigned as a successful manifest image.
Use the Register of Deeds for land-record functions, while court pleadings and orders stay with the Clerk of the District Court.
Geary County Clerk Access Channels
The clerk access path depends on the record. District Court case records begin with Kansas CaseSearch, a courthouse terminal, or a direct request to Geary County District Court. County agency records use Geary County's online or PDF KORA form. Sheriff's records use the sheriff records channel, and land records use the Register of Deeds.
For court-record copies, include the case number if known, party names, document type, approximate filing date, and whether a certified copy is required. For transcript requests, the 8th Judicial District requires the request or order to be filed in the relevant court case, with a copy provided to the district transcriptionist. The clerk can provide a cost estimate before transcript preparation.
Contextual court case lookup can also involve Geary County court records, but the Clerk of the District Court is the local custodian once a District Court document needs copy handling.
